  • Develop your skills in navigation and safety awareness for new or inexperienced skippers and crew, and those wanting to refresh their skills. In fact it's for anyone interested in sailing, motor boating, sea angling or diving (no assumed knowledge needed)
  • ​​​​​Charts and publications, safety, buoyage, tides, navigation, pilotage, rules of the road, anchoring, weather, passage planning
  • Highly informative course with lots of opportunities for you to put your new found knowledge into practice
  • ​Complements the Australian Sailing’s 'National Keelboat Program'​
  • 15 hours minimum training (2 x 7.5 hours taught over 2 consecutive Sundays)

Course Dates & Boookings
  • Pre-requisite: Yachmaster Offshore
  • Learn about the stars, constellations and planets and their place in your ocean environment. 
  • You will learn how to use a sextant to help you determine your latitude.
  • Learn to get a fix from sun-sights and the use of nautical almanacs.
  • Skills developed will allow you to replace the use of electronic instruments given their intrinsic unreliability (even this risk is low, it is still real).
